UNC vs WVU at Duke’s Mayo Bowl: When gates open + where to park near BofA Stadium

Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC is the current home of the Carolina Panthers football team.

Football fans from across the region will soon head to Charlotte for the Duke’s Mayo Bowl at Bank of America Stadium.

On Dec. 27, the University of North Carolina football team will face off against West Virginia University — the third game ever between the Tar Heels and the Mountaineers and the first since 2008.

“We’re excited to be headed to Charlotte to play in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl,” UNC head coach Mack Brown previously said. “We’re looking forward to diving into bowl practice, heading to Charlotte, and taking on a tough West Virginia team later this month.”

Kick-off is set for 5:30 p.m. but fans will be out at the stadium hours beforehand.

When will gates open? What time should I get to the game?

Kick off begins at 5:30 p.m. but gates at the stadium will open at 4 p.m. for fans to take their seats.

The Charlotte Sports Foundation will also host a party outside the stadium with music, food trucks, activities and more.

What are parking options for the game?

There are more than 30,000 parking spaces within a 10-15 minute walk of Bank of America Stadium.

  • Legacy Union Parking: The Seven20 Garage, located across from the Lowe’s Gate Entrance at Bank of America Stadium, will be open for fans. You can buy a mobile parking pass online at am.ticketmaster.com/college/shopping-cart.

  • Reserved parking: If you’d like to plan ahead, you can book a paid parking space for the game online. On the Bank of America Stadium SpotHero Parking Page (spothero.com), you can find a list of available parking options that can be reserved in advance.

What about public transportation options?

Fans are encouraged to use Charlotte Area Transit System, including buses, the LYNX light rail service and the CityLYNX streetcar line.

If you want to take public transportation, the LYNX Blue Line offers light-rail service between uptown Charlotte and I-485 at South Boulevard with stops at the Carson, Stonewall and Convention Center stations that are close to the stadium. Tickets can be purchased at a Ticket Vending Machine at each station platform or online through the CATS-Pass mobile app.
