UNC women's basketball score vs. Ohio State: Live updates from NCAA Tournament

North Carolina women's basketball withstood a first-round challenge from St. John's on Saturday and needs one more win to reach the Sweet 16.

The No. 6-seeded Tar Heels (22-10) will face No. 3-seeded Ohio State (26-7) on the Buckeyes' home court in the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, on Monday (4 p.m., ESPN).

Ohio State, ranked 12th in The AP Top 25, started the season with 19 straight wins, a program record that included victories over Tennessee, Louisville, Oregon and Michigan. The Buckeyes stumbled later in the season, losing five of seven in their weakest stretch while senior guard Jacy Sheldon was sidelined with a foot injury.

Sheldon returned in time for the NCAA Tournament and helped Ohio State force 21 turnovers in a first-round 80-66 win over James Madison on Saturday. Taylor Mikesell is the Buckeyes' leading scorer at 17.2 points per game, and Big Ten Freshman of the Year Cotie McMahon averages 14.8 points and 5.3 rebounds.

UNC let St. John's get back into their first-round game late, with the Red Storm taking a five-point lead with just under four minutes remaining. But Deja Kelly led a Tar Heels surge, capped by her layup through contact with two seconds left and ensuing free throw that wrapped up the win.
