UND football will play on blue turf at Boise State in 2023

Jul. 2—The UND football program has experience playing on the red turf in Cheney, Wash., against Eastern Washington.

But in 2023, the Fighting Hawks will get a look at a different shade of the playing surface.

UND will play on the blue turf at Boise State on Sept. 16 at Albertsons Stadium.

The stadium has a capacity of more than 36,000.

UND was previously scheduled to play at Washington on that date in 2023 but will now play Boise State instead.

The contract details and guarantees remain the same for the first-ever matchup between UND and Boise State.

The Herald previously reported the UND-Washington guarantee was $637,500, which is UND's highest guarantee in history.

UND collected $500,000 for playing in Seattle against Washington when the teams met in 2018. The Huskies won that game 45-3.

UND's future FBS games include Utah State in 2021, Nebraska in 2022, Boise State in 2023, Iowa State in 2024, Kansas State in 2025 and Nebraska in 2026.

UND was originally scheduled to play Missouri in 2025 but when the pandemic caused the 2020 matchup with Kansas State to be canceled, it was rescheduled for 2025. UND is no longer expected to play Missouri.

UND's two games with Nebraska will net more than $1 million in guarantee money. UND will receive $515,000 for the first game and $560,000 for the second.
