UND football's second commitment for the 2023 recruiting class is a Farmington defensive end
Jun. 25—GRAND FORKS — Braden Mohr, a defensive end from Farmington (Minn.) was still being pursued this week by a few other Missouri Valley Football Conference schools, but decided to put an end to that recruitment on Thursday.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound senior-to-be gave his verbal commitment to play for the Fighting Hawks, becoming the program's second commitment of the 2023 recruiting class.
Tyler Erkman, a safety from the Chicago area, became UND's first verbal of the 2023 class a day earlier.
"I felt super strong about it," Mohr said. "There were some others still recruiting me like NDSU, South Dakota, SDSU. But with how everything was with North Dakota, I wasn't waiting to commit.
"I really loved the campus and coaches. It was the best staff by far about reaching out to see how I was doing and feeling. I knew when I took my first visit, I loved it. The campus shocked me and Grand Forks had a lot to offer to me."
Mohr, who said his agility for his size is his biggest asset, held Division I scholarship offers from Air Force and St. Thomas, as well as seven Division II offers.
Mohr played in seven off 11 games last season for Farmington due to a shoulder injury.
The injury caused Mohr to miss the basketball season but he said he's back at 100 percent after completing the track and field throwing season healthy.
Farmington, which plays at the highest level of Minnesota prep football (6A), went 6-5 last season and lost to Eden Prairie in the state quarterfinals.
