‘Unforgettable journey’: Popular Boston brewery closing its doors

A popular craft brewing company in Boston is shutting down its taproom and beer production after spending the last six years serving up pints to the community.

Turtle Swamp Brewing in the city’s Jamaica Plain section will permanently close next month, ownership announced Tuesday.

“Through good times and rough times, we have had the pleasure of welcoming hundreds of thousands of our friends, neighbors, and visitors from around the country to our taproom to share a freshly brewed Orange Line IPA and a simple good time,” John Lincecum and Nik Walther said in a statement. “Our unique beers were ultimately available throughout Massachusetts and we are grateful to the beer lovers from Provincetown to Pittsfield who enjoyed and praised our beers.”

Lincecum and Walther didn’t get into why they are closing the doors of Turtle Swamp but called their run an “unforgettable journey.”

“It has been an unforgettable journey for us, our families, and the dozens of kind folks who joined our staff through the years. These amazing people brewed the beers, served the beers, and greeted patrons with a genuine warmth that reflected our simple belief that all are welcome here,” Lincecum and Walther added. “It has been a great honor to own a local brewery and share our passion for beer. Thank you to all who believed in us.”

The final day to enjoy a beer on the patio will be Saturday, Aug. 19.
