Union County Emergency Food Event Postponed Due To Winter Storm
UNION COUNTY, NJ — Due to the impending winter storm this weekend, Union County's emergency food distribution event will be postponed.
This event hosted by Union County's Board of County Commissioners is meant to help residents who were affected by COVID-19 and are struggling to access food. It was originally scheduled for Saturday but has now been rescheduled to Feb. 5 at 8 a.m.
The drive-up event will be held at Kean University in Union Township —1000 Morris Ave. — for all Union County residents affected by COVID-19.
No registration is required.
The first 1,000 people to arrive at the event will receive boxes of produce and shelf stable food on a first-come-first-served basis. Only one food distribution is allowed per household while supplies last.
People are advised to refrigerate any perishable items soon after they receive them. Residents should also clear out their car trunks prior to arrival to make room for the food boxes.
Those who wish to participate must bring one proof of NJ residency — either a utility bill, driver's license or ID card.
