Via social media, Thomas thanked his supporters, and he also thanked his opponent for a "spirited campaign."

"I know his heart is in the right place and he truly wants what’s best for Union County," he said. "I am looking forward to working with him to improve our county tenfold."

Deibler also thanked Union County through his Facebook page for the opportunity to run for sheriff.

“Though things didn’t turn out the way I necessarily would have liked I trust your decision,” he stated. “Congratulations to Jason Thomas on his victory. We will be praying for both candidates going forward and for our County.”

Thomas now shifts his focus to the general election, where he will face Democrat Jared Beauchamp.

"I have good plans for the Sheriffs Office that I believe our citizens will get behind wholeheartedly," Thomas stated. "Again, thank you all. My heart is full."
