Union groups accuse DHL of labor violations

BERLIN (AP) -- Two international unions say they've filed a complaint with the German government alleging that Deutsche Post's DHL division has attempted to stifle organized labor movements.

UNI Global Union, representing 2.5 million postal and logistics workers worldwide, and the International Transport Workers' Federation allege DHL fired a group of workers in Turkey who were trying to organize into a union, and has also attempted to limit unions in other countries.

DHL told The Associated Press Thursday it hadn't yet seen the complaint, but that "all of our employees have the right to join or not to join a union of their choice" and that the dismissals in Turkey were all for contract violations or misconduct.

The complaint filed Wednesday seeks to have the German government investigate.
