United Airlines sets holiday schedule for nonstop flights between Fresno, Chicago

United Airlines, which offered seasonal flights between Fresno and Chicago during the summer, will temporarily operate daily flights on the same route for 2 1/2 weeks in late December and early January.

Fresno Yosemite International Airport officials announced this week that United will provide nonstop service to and from O’Hare International Airport, providing additional connections to the Midwest and East Coast for travelers during the holiday season. The regular seasonal service is scheduled to resume from May through September 2024.

“The return of United Airlines’ service between Fresno and Chicago provides Central Valley travelers with more flights, more choices and added seat capacity this winter,” Fresno airports director Henry Thompson said in a statement issued by the airport.

United’s flights between Fresno and Chicago will be offered daily starting Dec. 21 and continue through Jan. 8, except for Christmas Eve, Dec. 24; Christmas Day, Dec. 25; and New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.

The planned schedule for the flights will be:

  • Departures from Fresno at 11:59 p.m. for arrival in Chicago at 5:54 a.m. aboard Boeing 737-900 twin-engine jets.

  • Departures from Chicago at 7:50 p.m. for arrival in Fresno at 10:28 p.m. aboard Airbus A319 twin-engine jets.

Because of the anticipation of high travel volume during the holiday season, airport officials encouraged would-be passengers to book reservations soon. They added that bookings during the holiday season would also bolster the city’s effort to secure year-round nonstop flights to Chicago.
