United Airlines to suspend service at Westchester County Airport

WHITE PLAINS - United Airlines will suspend its service at Westchester County Airport beginning July 1, a spokesperson for the airline has confirmed.

United served a single route out of the county's airport, to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.

"Since we have a limited number of regional jets and pilots to fly them, we regularly evaluate how best to use those resources to provide convenient service to smaller airports across the country," said Christine Salamone, a spokesperson for United.

Based on that analysis, United decided to suspend service between White Plains and Chicago beginning July 1.

Salamone said United has already begun contacting customers with flights booked after June 30 and offering them alternative flights to Chicago from LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International airports, and other nearby airports.
