United to celebrate homecoming Oct. 7

United High School will crown its fall homecoming court at Friday’s varsity football game against Wellsville.

United’s 2021 queen, Emily McKarns, will crown the 2022 queen, and 2021 king Angus Cope will crown the 2022 king. McKarns now is attending Kent State University, and Angus is currently working.

United’s homecoming dance will be Saturday with the theme, “A Night in Paris.”

Candidates for homecoming queen are seniors Riley Dangel, Grace Hall, Gracie Johnston and Payton Price. King candidates are seniors Hayden Casto, Grant Greier, Brycen Haynes and Grant Knight.

Dangel, daughter of Todd and Michelle Dangel, is president of Student Council, and is involved in tennis, National Honor Society and Spanish Club. Dangel’s escort is Haynes, son of Chris and Alison Haynes. Brycen Haynes is in band, theatre, Academic Challenge and tennis.

Hall, daughter of Matt and Beth Hall, is involved in varsity soccer, National Honor Society, 4-H and Ruriteens. Hall’s escort is Casto, son of Jeffrey and Kelly Casto. Hayden Casto is involved in football and Future Farmers Association.

Johnston, daughter of Johnny and Abby Johnston, is involved in Ruriteens, Student Council, 4-H and Future Farmers Association. Johnston’s escort is Greier, son of April Lasky and Bob Greier. Grant Greier is involved in football.

Price, daughter of Leanna Skiba and Robert Price, is involved in cross country and track. Price’s escort is Knight, son of Rebekah Kiko and Brent Knight. Grant Knight is involved in varsity football, varsity baseball and varsity basketball.

Junior attendants are Samantha Lippiatt and Louden Stryffeler. Lippiatt, daughter of Brian and Melissa Lippiatt, is involved in softball, basketball, travel softball, Student Council, and is a library worker. Stryffeler, son of Adam and Natalie Stryffeler, is involved in soccer, basketball, baseball and Future Farmers Association.

Sophomore attendants are Adriana Cooper and Maddox Andrea. Cooper, daughter of Kathryn Davis and Jim Cooper, is involved in wrestling, 4-H and Spanish Club. Andrea, son of Bill and Sarah Andrea, is involved in soccer and Pittsburgh Riverhounds Academy, and community service at Hall Park.

Freshman attendants are Rhianna Weber and Wyatt Swanson. Weber, daughter of Aindrea Arkwright and Mark Weber, is in band and soccer. Swanson, son of Randall Swanson and Julie Simmons, is involved in football, baseball, basketball and hunting.

United High School’s Student Council is sponsoring this year’s homecoming. Student Council officers are President Riley Dangel, Vice President Kaylee Pitts, Secretary Samantha White and Treasurer Aisha Crawford. Student Council adviser is Betty Whiteleather.
