United High to pick winter homecoming royalty

United Local Schools will select its winter homecoming queen and king on Friday at its basketball game against Wellsville.

The 2022 winter homecoming royalty, Samantha Benner and Trenton Mango, will be crowning this year’s king and queen.

Students will celebrate homecoming Saturday night with a dance that has a theme of “Valentines.”

The following are members of the homecoming court:

Seniors

Olivia Grubb, escorted by Nevin Hahlen – Grubb is the daughter of Matt and Laura Grubb, and is on varsity volleyball, Yearbook Club, Spanish Club and Just Rite 4-H Club. Hahlen is son of Adam and Kelly Hahlen. His activities are varsity basketball, varsity baseball and National Honor Society.

Grace Hall, escorted by Hayden Casto – Hall is the daughter of Matt and Beth Hall, and is on varsity soccer and cheerleading, National Honor Society, a class officer and in 4-H. Casto, son of Jeff and Kelley Casto, is a member of Hanoverton Presbyterian Church, four-year letterman and a captain in football, seven-year president of 4-H, and a member of United FFA.

Emma VonFeldt, escorted by Trent Newburn – VonFeldt, daughter of Lenny and Angela VonFeldt, is a class president, National Honor Society president, band vice president and student conductor. Newburn, son of Jon and Erin Newburn, is a four-year letter winner in basketball and football, and plays travel baseball.

Other court members:

FRESHMEN – Marin Stryffeler, escorted by Tyler Wood. She is the daughter of Adam and Natalie Stryffeler. Her activities include volleyball, basketball, softball and junior fair/4-H.  Wood is the son of Timothy Wood and Dee Dee Willis. His activities include football, Young Life and weight lifting.

SOPHOMORES – Elaina Kiko, escorted by Parker Newburn. Kiko, daughter of Jodi and Russell Kiko, is in 4-H, and helps on the family farm. Newburn, son of Jon and Erin Newburn, is a two-year letterman in football; plays baseball and plays travel baseball in the summer.

JUNIORS – Grace Knight, escorted by Logan Casto and Jaric Simmons. Knight, daughter of Becky Kiko and Brent Knight, plays varsity basketball and volleyball, is in 4-H and Student Council.  Casto, son of Jeff and Kelley Casto, is a member of Hanoverton Presbyterian Church, plays varsity football and wrestles, and is member and officer of Hicks & Hayseed 4-H Club and United FFA. Simmons, son of Eric and Alison Simmons, is involved in National Tractor Pullers Association Tractor Pulling, a member of the FFA, farms with his grandpa, and works at Tractor Depot.
