EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley and Clear Vision Eau Claire are partnering to address the community’s technology challenges. The Chippewa Valley Digital Inclusion Partnership is bringing together those who live in rural areas, are 60 or older, served in the armed forces, or face language barriers.

To hear their concerns about anything from affordable internet access to technology support. Amber Scharenbroch with United Way says, since the pandemic, there’s been a growing need for broadband across the Chippewa Valley and beyond, “It’s been really important, especially for the school systems, with everything going online from homework to testing to schools themselves during snow days. and from there, telehealth too has become a huge component. Especially nowadays, with the affordability and access to telehealth. It’s been a huge reason why broadband has become so important.”

The Chippewa Valley Digital Inclusion Partnership plans to develop action teams to address the main issues brought up by community members.

Scharenbroch says they are also hoping to receive federal and state grants to create sustainable solutions like computer labs and digital navigator programs.
