United Way earmarks nearly $296,000 to 26 programs in Sandusky County

FREMONT - The United Way of Sandusky County Board of Trustees recently completed the application review process and has selected the programs and services to receive funds raised during the 2022 United Way Campaign drive.

United Way announced that the 2022 Giving Campaign raised $666,423. The trustees are able to allocate $295,706 to 18 agencies for the following 26 programs in Sandusky County.

United Way is also providing an additional $60,793 to programs and agencies in designated gifts for a total giving of $356,499. Additional campaign dollars are used to support the operations and programs run by United Way including the Cancer Care Fund, the First Call for Help Information Center, and annual School Supply Project.

Eighteen agencies receive funds for 2023

The following 18 agencies will receive a total of $295, 706 to fund 26 programs and services supporting the children and residents of Sandusky County:

American Red Cross of Northwest Ohio Chapter- Sandusky County — Service to Armed Forces, $4,187.12; American Red Cross of Northwest Ohio Chapter- Sandusky County — Disaster Services, $12,762; Camp Fire Sandusky County – Summer Camps, $11,187; Camp Fire Sandusky County — Programs, $9,117.36; CASA of Seneca, Sandusky, and Wyandot Counties, $12,535.91; Fremont City Schools — ACE Mentoring Program, $6,341.76; Gibsonburg Exempt Village Schools — Reading Mentoring Program, $13,837.64; Girl Scouts of North East Ohio — Girl Scout Leadership Experience, $10,407.68;

Goodwill Industries of Erie, Huron, Ottawa and Sandusky Counties, — Goodwill Employee Wellness Program, $5,387.84; Great Lakes Community Action Partnership — Senior Meals-on-Wheels, $16,020; Great Lakes Community Action Partnership — Transportation, $10,200; Great Lakes Community Action Partnership – Sandusky County Financial Opportunity Center, $10, 040.40; Habitat for Humanity International, Inc. — Ramp Program, $4,594.80;

Liberty Center of Sandusky County — Domestic Violence Advocate Program, $13,984; Liberty Center of Sandusky County — Liberty Center Shelter, $43,320; Lutheran Church in American Lutheran Social Services of Northwestern Ohio — Counseling, $9,660; Ottawa County Family Advocacy Center, Inc. — Fuel for Kids, $902.34; Ottawa County Family Advocacy Center, Inc. — TNT Mentoring, $5,328; Sandusky County 4-H — Community Clubs Program, $10,355.79;

Two 4-H programs receive funds

Sandusky County 4-H — Junior Camp Program, $2,720.18; Sandusky County Family and Children First Council – Wraparound, $16, 528.05; Sandusky County Public Health — Welcome Home Visit/ Cribs for Kids Program, $11,336.96; Sandusky County Share & Care Center — Family Financial Assistance Program, $22,950; Village House of Northwest Ohio, Inc., $16,116; YMCA of Sandusky County — Child Development Program, $10,140; and YMCA of Sandusky County — Membership Financial Aid (Scholarship), $5,745.60.

According to the CEO and President, Jill Simpson, these programs touch thousands of lives and create lasting change in the county. They focus on making sure that residents’ basic needs such as food and shelter are met; children are succeeding in school, and help improve the health of children and adults.
