United Way of Sandusky County to give out awards, kick off community campaign

FREMONT - United Way of Sandusky County invites the community to the Annual Awards and Community Campaign Kick Off at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 15 at the Garden Tent of The Garrison restaurant.

Attendees will enjoy a light breakfast and specialty coffees followed by a brief program that will include recognition of 2022 Campaign donors, a community impact update, and a check and food collection presentation to several county food pantries. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate as well. Reservations are required and can be made by calling United Way at 419-334-8938 by Sept. 8.

Martin to lead campaign for United Way

The program will be hosted by Jill Simpson, president/CEO of United Way, and this year’s Campaign Chair, Paul Martin, vice president/general manager of Green Bay Packaging — Fremont Division. Martin has been a strong advocate of United Way and said he looks forward to serving as Campaign Chair stating

“Being able to impact things locally has always been what appeals to me most about United Way, and it’s a theme that we can all get behind, both at Green Bay Packaging, here in Fremont, and all over Sandusky County,” he said.

Pacesetters to be recognized at morning event

During the program, United Way will also be recognizing this year’s Campaign Pacesetters which include, Crown Battery Manufacturing Company, First National Bank, Fremont Federal Credit Union, Great Lakes Community Action Partnership, Green Bay Packaging Company, ProMedica Memorial Hospital, The Mosser Group, Sandusky County Department of Job & Family Services, Style Crest Enterprises, Terra State Community College, and Whirlpool Corporation — Clyde Division.

United Way helps fund more than 26 programs and services at other community agencies making a positive impact every day on the lives of children and families in Sandusky County. Internal programs of United Way include the Cancer Care Fund, which provides financial assistance to residents diagnosed with cancer; First Call for Help, an information referral line that helps residents find community resources in their time of need; and a School Supply Drive program.
