United Way of Tuscarawas County's 80th annual campaign underway

NEW PHILADELPHIA ‒ The United Way’s 80th annual fundraising campaign, which supports 19 local health and human service programs, officially kicks off this month.

Bruce James is serving as the 2022 campaign chair for the United Way of Tuscarawas County.

At the beginning of the year, James concluded his 43-year career in healthcare when he retired as president and CEO of Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, a position he held since July 2009.

While at Union, James was an Ohio Hospital Association designee to the American Hospital Association Region 5 Policy Board, a member and chairman of OHA’s Small and Rural Hospital Committee, and a member of the Vizient Board of Directors. Locally, James has served on the Tuscarawas County Community Improvement Committee (where he is current board president), the Tuscarawas County Economic Development Corporation and Dover Rotary.

“It’s a privilege to have Bruce James lead the United Way of Tuscarawas County’s annual campaign,” said Robin Waltz, United Way president. Bruce has been a tremendous supporter of United Way as the healthcare chair and volunteer. I know Bruce’s dedication to the community and tremendous leadership skills will have a great impact on this year’s campaign, allowing us to create more opportunities for individuals and families in our community to thrive.”

This year, James will be working alongside assistant campaign chairs, Mitch and Kiley Kendall, of Edward Jones Financial Advisors. Mitch also serves on the United Way of Tuscarawas County’s board.

UWTC is asking for the community’s continued support by investing in the organization’s mission to continue to support health and human service programs in Tuscarawas County in addition to various special grants.
