Unity Days Festival in Mayfield Heights in full swing

Jun. 24—Mayfield Heights will be hosting the 28th annual Unity Days Festival, this weekend with music, fireworks and more.

Mayfield Heights City Park is the site of the family-friendly event that will feature a variety of bands, carnival-style food and attractions for the community to enjoy.

Arrabiata's, Corbo's Bakery, K. Station Katering and others will be among the food vendors on hand.

"It's our annual event that the parks and rec department holds every year, and we are happy to put it on again this year," said Sean Ward, director of Parks and Recreation for Mayfield Heights. "It gives the community a chance to come out and see each other and get to know your neighbors."

The Unity Days Festival also offer raffles for guests to win prizes up to $3,000.

Ward appreciates the various donors and local vendors that have lent their support. Ward said that without the help of volunteers and Parks and Recreation staff the festival wouldn't be successful.

The event will include giant inflatables and interactive games for children of all ages, the Euclid Beach Rocket Car Ride, and much more for people to enjoy. Wristbands for the inflatable rides are $15.

Ward said that this year the festival's events will climax on Saturday with a professional fireworks display. Ward said that he is excited to share in the display with his community.

"It's a community-builder, that's the big thing," Ward said. "It gives people a chance to come out and see their neighbors they may only see a few times a year. Then they can relax in our park and enjoy some good music and carnival food, let their kids play and have a good time while getting to know one another."

The festival will conclude with a parade at 1 p.m. Sunday that will step off from Mayfield Road and Iroquois Avenue.
