The first trailer for "Halloween Ends," which was shot in Sylvania and Savannah earlier this spring, was released on July 19.

The trailer sets the stage for what will be the final showdown of crazed serial killer Michael Myers, played by Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney, versus the tough-as-nails heroin Laurie Strode. The two characters have been in a seemingly perpetual battle since the first "Halloween" movie was released in 1978.

This will be the 13th film in a franchise that has grossed over $500 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

John Carpenter's iconic killer Michael Myers, also known as "The Shape," is set to fight Laurie Strode one last time in "Halloween Ends" set for release on Oct. 14, 2022.

Casting calls for extras took place at Little Dipper Coffee and Ice Cream, and photos circulating on social media show the viaduct on West Ogeechee Street between Huddle House and downtown Sylvania was a major spot for filming, both on top of the viaduct along the roadway and below the viaduct along the railway.

Prop banners and advertisements indicate Sylvania was made to be the set for Haddonfield, Illinois, the fictitious setting for all of the "Halloween" movies.

The local filming was overseen by the Savannah Film Commission, whose executive director Beth Nelson said July 25 that they could not release any detailed information on the exact filming locations within Sylvania and Savannah. The trailer predominantly consists of fighting shots inside residential homes, so it's unclear for now how much of Sylvania will be seen in the final cut.

However, residents like Sheryl Hopkins say it's just exciting for their small hometown to become a part of one of the biggest horror stories in cinema.

"I graduated in June of 1980 and Halloween had become a favorite among horror movie fans after its 1978 release. It has been fun telling my grandchildren about watching the very first movie that was released," Hopkins said via Messenger. "Myself and my kids have become Jamie Lee Curtis fans over the years (not just for the 'Halloween' movies) so to think of our small town being represented in a film that she is involved with has really been exciting."

According to the Savannah Film Commission's records, Shia LaBeouf's 2019 drama "The Peanut Butter Falcon" is the only other major film to have been filmed in Sylvania. The hope is that blockbusters like "Halloween Ends" will generate more interest to film in the area with production companies.

The horror flick hits theaters Friday, Oct. 14. While last year's installment, "Halloween Kills," had a simultaneous release on Peacock, no information has been released if "Halloween Ends" will do the same.
