University of Maryland professors tracking AI jobs

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (DC News Now) — The University of Maryland’s (UMD) Robert H. Smith School of Business has partnered with the company LinkUp to create a map that tracks where AI jobs are being created, such as cloud computing, data analysis, machine learning and more.

“What we do is that we created our own large language model to be able to decode when a company posts a job,” said Professor Anil Gupta. “You can even drill down what counties, what zip codes they’re [in].”

If you want to apply for a specific job, you’ll have to go directly to the company’s site.

Gupta says since the creation of the site AImaps.ai, researchers have discovered that the DMV is growing in the world of artificial intelligence.

“I’ve been living in Maryland for 40 years and I myself did not know, until we looked at our data that the DMV region, the national capital region, now has the second highest number of jobs being created in the country after California,” he said.
