A University of Miami homecoming for WWE’s Sarah Schreiber. MVP makes a Miami return, too

Here is my video interview at the University of Miami’s Watsco Center with University of Miami alum Sarah Schreiber, who later that evening worked as show host and ring announcer for a WWE SuperShow inside the center on Sunday, July 30, 2023.

That WWE SuperShow marked the first time WWE brought its main roster talent to the Watsco Center. WWE’s NXT brand performed at the Watsco Center in the past, and Schreiber worked there for NXT, too.

Here are some photos of Schreiber from the WWE SuperShow, ring announcing, hosting and interacting with fans. What a good, excited crowd. Made the action-packed, fun show even more enjoyable.

Before the show, Schreiber spent some time around the campus.

She is a proud UM alum, graduating with a bachelor of fine arts degree in musical theater. She enjoys when WWE is at her alma mater and always wants to participate in the show any time WWE is there.

As part of her skill set, Schreiber can also sing and play the flute. She did not sing nor play the flute at that WWE SuperShow in Coral Gables. Currently she is working on her master’s degree in TV and media management from Drexel University.

After his match at The U, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes spoke to fans, noting that Schreiber is a University of Miami alum, and the crowd cheered.

Pre-show, Schreiber looked around the inside of the Watsco Center. The University of Miami men’s and women’s basketball teams play there, and both celebrated outstanding seasons in 2023. Schreiber keeps tabs on the school and sports’ program, too.

Interestingly enough, Cody’s dad, the legend The American Dream Dusty Rhodes wrestled — not too far from The U — every Wednesday night for Championship Wrestling from Florida at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Schreiber began working for WWE in 2018. A jill of all trades, she hosts live shows and conducts backstage interviews (TV, PPV, streaming). She also serves as a ring announcer, travels for shows internationally, helps with community events and (as Dusty Rhodes did) works with/taught new talent at the WWE Performance Center and more.

Schreiber recently spent time with her mom in Paris when WWE traveled there. Very close to her supportive parents, she recently lost her father, who worked in law enforcement. That hit her hard.

Now she is getting ready for SummerSlam, one of WWE’s marquee events of the year.

WWE SummerSlam is Saturday, August 5 at Ford Field in Detroit. Watch it on Peacock in the United States and WWE Network elsewhere.

Miami homecoming for MVP, too

Even though he and the 7-foot-3 Nigerian giant Omos were dissing the Miami Heat, always good to see Miami’s own MVP, a future WWE Hall of Famer who worked the Florida indies and trained in pro wrestling in South Florida.

MVP really knows how to work a crowd and is helping the former University of South Florida basketball player develop his skills. Omos wrestled “Johnny Wrestling” Johnny Gargano during that WWE SuperShow at The U.

This isn’t Cleveland, Gargano. It’s Miami (well, Coral Gables), and you don’t mess with MVP in his hometown.

At the onset, WWE fans were chanting “MVP” loudly, supporting the hometown star, until he and Omos started trash talking the Miami Heat. That’s how you get Heel Heat (pun intended). BTW, notice the orange and green (UM colors) on MVP’s “Miami Vice” Don Johnson style jacket. Kudos.
