An unusual ‘save’ for Fresno Fire’s Water Rescue Team

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Emergency crews responded to a call in Central Fresno for a rescue Saturday in which a person was believed to be in a canal, the Fresno Fire Department says.

Around 10:20 a.m., the Fresno Police Department notified the Fresno Fire Department that their Water Rescue Team was needed in the area of Palm and Dakota Avenues.

Firefighters say they arrived to find something much different than they expected.

Members of the Water Rescue Team were able to determine that the object in the water was, in fact, not a person at all.

While it is unknown how a Halloween decoration in the form of a skeleton made its way into the water, the team proceeded to safely remove it from the canal.
