Vehicle crashes into Nike store at Wrentham Outlets

EDITOR’S NOTE: In the original version of this story, fire officials told Boston 25 News that three people had been transported to a local hospital. Officials now tell Boston 25 News those three people were originally treated on scene before deciding to go to the hospital.

Emergency crews responded to the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets after a vehicle crashed into the Nike Store, shortly before 8 p.m. Friday night.

Emergency dispatchers initially received calls for a mass casualty incident due to people thinking that store mannequins under the vehicle may be bodies. Thankfully, no one inside the store was injured.

Investigators believe the driver of the vehicle lost control while backing up.

“They were backing out of that spot, and they just lost control and backed right through the store” said Deputy Fire Chief Robert Maduskuie.

A mother and her two daughters were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. They were originally treated on scene before deciding to go to the hospital for evaluation.

Boston 25 News has reached out to the Simon Property Group, which owns the outlets, and is awaiting a response.

The crash remains under investigation, no charges have been filed at this time.
