Updates coming to Kewanee Star Courier comics pages

We're updating our funny pages.

After surveying and listening to our loyal readers, the USA TODAY Network, of which we're a part, is giving our comics page a fresh new look.

The updated package is a combination of beloved favorites and emerging new artists.

Our new daily lineup will feature Blondie, Zits, Beetle Bailey, Family Circus, Hagar the Horrible, Dennis the Menace, Garfield, Peanuts, For Better or For Worse, Baby Blues, Pickles, Pearls Before Swine, Jump Start, Ziggy, Marmaduke, Non Sequitur and Crabgrass.

Our new daily lineup will feature Blondie, Zits, Beetle Bailey, Family Circus, Hagar the Horrible, Dennis the Menace, Garfield, Peanuts, For Better or For Worse, Baby Blues and Pickles.

If you're counting, that's 17 comics, two more than our current daily offering.

Readers also will continue to have access to even more comic strips at starcourier.com/comics.

These changes are not just in Kewanee. USA TODAY Network newspapers across the country will see similar changes, allowing us, as a network, to present a more unified and consistent comics package across all publications.

Comics in the Star Courier will switch starting Jan. 29.

The new, uniform comics packages will allow Gannett to further invest in local journalism in communities across the country.

Subscription rates will not change with these changes.

Like many of you, comics were my first introduction to the newspaper.

I remember looking at the pictures before I could even read. When the words on those pages made my older siblings laugh, I learned to read so I could join the fun.

I never stopped reading comics. I hope you don't either.

Our comics lineup is changing, but the funny pages are here to stay.

We hope you enjoy the changes, and thank you for being loyal readers of the Kewanee Star Courier.
