Xcel hiring for virtual call center positions

Xcel Energy is seeking to hire permanent off-site home-based agents in the Plainview area to staff its virtual Customer Contact Center.

Currently the company has positions available in its residential customer service and credit contact centers. These employees handle incoming calls and work with customers on billing questions, negotiate payments arrangements, service requests, outages, and promote products and services from across the eight states served by Xcel Energy.

Xcel Energy operates a Customer Contact Center in Amarillo and began hiring remote agents in 2021 in New Mexico. Additional positions are open for applicants in Amarillo, Dumas and Pampa.

The positions are full-time and employees selected receive all the benefits of working for Xcel Energy including medical and dental, competitive pay, 401(k), paid time off and on-going training and professional development. Employees are provided high quality computer technology, and all receive an extensive eight-week virtual training session. Potential employees must have adequate internet access at their home which the company can determine based on their internet service provider.

Those interested in applying will find details at xcelenergy.com.

Planet Fitness letting teens work out for free

Planet Fitness, one of the largest franchisors and operators of fitness centers, is inviting high schoolers ages 14-19 to work out for free at any of its more than 2,200 Planet Fitness locations throughout the United States and Canada from May 16 through Aug. 31 as part of the High School Summer Pass initiative.

High School Summer Pass was formerly known as Teen Summer Challenge, which was the first program of its kind launched in 2019 and saw more than 900,000 teens sign up and complete more than 5.5 million workouts over a three-and-a-half-month period.

High schoolers can visit PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass to pre-register, and get a reminder to formally sign up when the program officially kicks off on Monday, May 16. Teens under 18 must register with a parent or guardian online or in-club.

To further motivate high schoolers to make fitness a priority, all participants who sign up starting May 16 are automatically entered into The Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass Sweepstakes. Planet Fitness will award one $500 scholarship in each state (and the District of Columbia), and one grand prize $5,000 scholarship at the end of the summer. These scholarships can be used for academic or athletic activities or programs.

In addition, the certified trainers at Planet Fitness have also designed 15 trainer-led workout videos and 10 downloadable workouts just for high schoolers (across all fitness levels). This content will be available on the Planet Fitness App and at PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass starting May 16.
