Upfronts 2022: Every new scripted series picked up by a broadcast network

NEW YORK — The fall TV schedule has everything: firefighters, cops, lawyers. And that’s just CBS.

There’s an anthology series about defendants during their trial, an animated series starring Jon Hamm and a reboot of “Quantum Leap.” There’s something for Mom, something for Dad and something for the college kid stealing Mom and Dad’s cable login.

All week, network TV executives pitched their fall schedules to advertisers, hoping to bring in the money to fund the next “Grey’s Anatomy” or “Law and Order.”

The Daily News attended all the “upfronts” — the events touting new shows — so that you didn’t have to.

Here are all the new scripted shows announced for the 2022-23 broadcast season.

ABC

“Alaska”

Logline: A recently disgraced reporter leaves her high-profile New York life behind to join a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.

Cast: Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park and Craig Frank

“Avalon”

Logline: Based on a short story by Michael Connelly, the series centers on L.A. Sheriff’s Department Detective Nicole “Nic” Searcy, who heads a small office on the island that’s home to 4,000 permanent residents and caters to a million tourists every year — with hundreds of potential stories arriving by ferry each day. Detective Searcy is pulled into a career-defining mystery that will challenge everything she knows about herself and the island.

“Not Dead Yet” (held for midseason)

Logline: Nell Stevens, a broke and newly single self-described disaster, works to restart the life and career she left behind 10 years ago. When she lands the only job she can find – writing obituaries – Nell starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.

“The Rookie: Feds”

Logline: Simone Clark is the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy. Serves as a spinoff from “The Rookie,” starring Nathan Fillion.

CBS

“East New York”

Logline: Regina Haywood is the newly promoted police captain of East New York, an impoverished, working-class neighborhood at the eastern edge of Brooklyn. She leads a diverse group of officers and detectives, some of whom are reluctant to deploy her creative methods of serving and protecting during the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification.

Cast: Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Kevin Rankin, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ruben Santiago Hudson, Richard Kind, Lavel Schley and Olivia Luccardi

“Fire Country”

Logline: Seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence, young convict Bode Donovan joins a firefighting program that returns him to his small Northern California hometown, where he and other inmates work alongside elite firefighters to extinguish massive blazes across the region.

Cast: Max Thieriot, Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Jordan Calloway, Stephanie Arcila and Jules Latimer

“So Help Me Todd”

Logline: Despite their opposing personalities, a talented but directionless P.I. who is the black sheep of his family begrudgingly agrees to work as the in-house investigator for his overbearing mother, a successful attorney reeling from the recent dissolution of her marriage.

Cast: Marcia Gay Harden, Skylar Astin, Madeline Wise, Tristen J. Winger, Inga Schlingmann and Rosa Arredondo

“True Lies” (held for midseason)

Logline: Shocked to discover that her bland and unremarkable computer consultant husband is a skilled international spy, an unfulfilled suburban housewife is propelled into a life of danger and adventure when she’s recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage.

Fox

“Accused”

Logline: Based on a BAFTA-winning British show created by Jimmy McGovern, the anthology drama opens in a courtroom with a defendant being accused of a crime, then backtracks to reveal how these people got caught up in the extraordinary situations in which they find themselves. Each season will focus on a different crime.

Cast: Michael Chiklis, Rhea Perlman, Abigail Breslin and Whitney Cummings

“Alert”

Logline: When police officer Nikki Parker’s son goes missing, she joins the LAPD’s Missing Person’s Unit to help other people find their loved ones, even as she searches for her own. Six years later, her world is turned upside-down when her ex-husband, Devon Zoellner, shows up with a proof-of-life photo of their missing boy. Or is it?

“Grimsburg”

Logline: Marvin Flute (Hamm) may be the greatest detective ever to catch a cannibal clown or correctly identify a mid-century modern armoire. But there’s one mystery he still can’t crack — his family. Now that he’s back in Grimsburg, a town where everyone has a secret or three, Flute will follow every lead he’s got to redeem himself with the ex-wife he never stopped loving, even if it means hanging out with the son he never bothered to get to know.

“Krapopolis”

Logline: The animated comedy, set in mythical ancient Greece, centers on a flawed family of humans, gods and monsters that tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other.

“Monarch” (holdover from last season)

Logline: The Romans are headed by the insanely talented, but tough as nails Queen of Country Music Dottie Cantrell Roman and her beloved husband, “Texas Truthteller” Albie Roman. Dottie and Albie have created a country music dynasty. But even though the Roman name is synonymous with authenticity, the very foundation of their success is a lie. And when their reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy, heir to the crown Nicolette “Nicky” Roman will stop at nothing to protect her family’s legacy, while ensuring her own quest for stardom.

NBC

“Lopez vs. Lopez”

Logline: A working-class family comedy about dysfunction, reconnection and all the pain and joy in between.

Cast: George Lopez, Mayan Lopez, Selenis Leyva, Brice Gonzalez, Matt Shively, Laci Mosley and Kiran Deol

“Night Court” (held for midseason)

Logline: Unapologetically optimistic judge Abby Stone, the daughter of the late Harry Stone, follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding.

Cast: Melisssa Rauch and John Larroquette

“Quantum Leap”

Logline: It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.

Cast: Raymond Lee, Ernie Hudson, Caitlin Bassett, Nanrisa Lee and Mason Alexander Park

The CW

“Family Law”

Logline: Abigail Bianchi is a high-paid personal-injury lawyer who’s good at blaming others – particularly when it comes to her own problems. After Abby’s husband kicks her out of the family home because of her drinking, she goes on a bender, shows up drunk in court and pukes on a client. The law society’s punishment is swift. She’s suspended, fined, and can only practice law again if she finds a senior lawyer who is willing to take her on and mentor her for a one year probationary period. Only one man is willing to take that risk: Harry Svensson, who runs the top family law practice in the city. He also happens to be Abby’s estranged father, who left Abby and her complicated mother for his secretary when Abby was seven.

“Gotham Knights” (held for midseason)

Logline: In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. This renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors

“Professionals”

Logline: Vincent Corbo is a top-tier security operative who is paid to protect the interests of rich and powerful clients by any means necessary - legal or not. After a next-gen medical-data satellite explodes on launch, Corbo is hired by the rocket’s designer, billionaire futurist Peter Swann who suspects sabotage. Complicating Corbo’s new gig is his former paramour and now Swann’s fiancée, medical visionary Dr. Grace Davila, who is racing to help stave off a global catastrophe.

“Walker: Independence”

Logline: A “Walker” origin story set in the late 1800s that follows Abby Walker, an affluent Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. On her quest for revenge, Abby crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlins, a lovable rogue in search of purpose. Abby and Hoyt’s journey takes them to Independence, Texas, where they encounter diverse, eclectic residents running from their own troubled pasts and chasing their dreams.

“The Winchesters”

Logline: Before Sam and Dean and “Supernatural,” there was John and Mary. Told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester, “The Winchesters” is the epic, untold love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.

Cast: Jensen Ackles, Nida Khurshid, Jojo Fleites, Meg Donnelly, Drake Rodger and Demetria McKinney
