UPMC hospitals president leaves for West Coast job

UPMC Executive Vice President and president of the health system’s hospitals Mark Sevco is trading Pittsburgh for a key position at a big northern California hospital system.

Sevco will become COO of Sutter Health, a 23-hospital not-for-profit system based in Sacramento, California. He’ll begin his job June 5.

Sevco has been key to the operations of the Pittsburgh-based health system for more than 30 years, beginning in 2021 as EVP and head of the organization’s 40 hospitals in Pittsburgh and beyond. His role was oversight of each of UPMC’s hospitals in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York.
