Region 10 football kicked off on Thursday night with reigning Region 10 champion Desert Hills taking to the road and snagging a 28-21 win over Brighton.

For the rest of the region, the Friday night lights represented the start of the 2022 season, and with most teams on the road, the results were mixed for local teams.

Crimson Cliffs 10, Green Canyon 3

The Mustangs may have graduated their entire starting defense from last season's stingy squad, but if week one was any indication, they should still be tough to score against this year.

Crimson Cliffs held Green Canyon out of the end zone all night, holding the lead late and picking up the 10-3 victory in front of a home crowd in St. George.

The Mustangs combined for six sacks and 10 tackles for a loss, led by Brooks Jensen, who had two sacks and 3.5 TFL on the night. Jace Sweeten and Brock Baker both scored interceptions.

Steele Barben went 19-of-28 for 205 yards, one score and an interception for the Mustangs, with Konner Kell hauling in the lone touchdown on his way to 71 total yards receiving.

The Mustangs stay at home to take on Spanish Fork next week.

Spanish Fork 10, Cedar 3

The Reds struggled to get much offense going against the Dons, going scoreless until Parker Kucifer was able to knock in a field goal with a little more than 2 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Spanish Fork took a first-half lead on a 2-yard run by Joshua Buck, tacked on a field goal in the third quarter and then let the defense do the rest.

Snow Canyon 41, Northridge 0

The Warriors smoked the Knights in front of a Santa Clara home crowd, racking up six first-half touchdowns before cruising the rest of the way for the easy win.

Hunter Johnson picked up 242 yards passing and threw for six scores on 15-of-24 passing, with Jake Hill leading the receiving corps with 141 yards and three scores.

Brooks Esplin, Dahrius Romander and Will Warner also hauled in scores for the Warriors.

Springville 41, Dixie 14

It was a rough start for the Flyers as they hosted 5A powerhouse Springville.

The Red Devils rolled out to a four-touchdown lead in the first half before the Flyers' Jalen Schultz was able to hit Blake Watson for a 40-yard score just before halftime.

The teams traded scores in the second half but Dixie never really threatened a comeback.

Tuvita Valeti led Springville with three rushing touchdowns, while Ryder Burton tacked on two more.

Mountain Crest 27, Hurricane 0

It was a tough night for the Tigers' offense, with the Mustangs slowly building up a lead with touchdowns in each quarter, all scored by Carson Olsen.
