Boulder Chorale Channels the Middle East: "Origins: The Fertile Crescent" will highlight Middle Eastern music and Northern African music, including songs by the late Egyptian singer and icon, Umm Kulthum. The Chorale will also perform new arrangements inspired by the music of Israel, Afghanistan, Spain, Morocco and Syria. Percussionist David Hinojosa and world musicians will join. A pre-concert talk is at 3:30 p.m. both days with Vicki Burrichter, who will discuss the challenges of translating Arabic music for a western chorus. 'A Life of Giving' Book Launch: Narayan Shrestha, a local author and owner of the Old Tibet store on Pearl Street, is celebrating the release of his autobiography. The book tells the true story the man from Nepal who arrived in the U.S. with limited English and $500.
