The new facility opened at the Westgate Mall in April, with 35,000 feet of activity and meeting space with areas and activities for all ages. Urban Air Adventure Park features various trampoline areas, dodgeball courts, zip lines, climbing and obstacle courses. Overall, there are about 14 different activities that families can enjoy, including capabilities for special and group events.

Urban Air Adventure Park started in 2011 with its first location in Southlake, Texas. Now, with more than 150 locations in the U.S., another 50 in development are owned by Unleashed Brands, which bills itself as a youth enrichment company with multiple franchises aimed at youth activities.

Co-franchisee owners John Domeracki and Kelsey Torres have experience in the Amarillo area going back to 2009, operating Spirit Halloween stores in the city. Domeracki purchased the Urban Air franchise in 2018, but opening the park was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Torres, his franchise co-owner, spoke about the new Amarillo attraction. She said Urban Air Adventure Park is designed with activities that can be enjoyed by all ages, with some areas explicitly made for the smaller kids.

“We thought that Amarillo would be a great market for this type of adventure; we have been in this market since 2009 with our Spirit Halloween stores,” Torres said. “This is an area that is underserved by indoor family entertainment that can actually give physical activity."

he said that one of the remarkable things about her park is that a family can spend an entire day without any time restrictions, with different passes that can provide as many activities as one can choose. There are multiple options, including daily and monthly passes. Those passes start from $10.99 a month for deluxe to $13.99 for the ultimate, including extras like discounts and free snacks. Each monthly pass also includes free socks with a special grip on the bottom.

“We have had such a great response from the community with interest and attendance so far,” Torres said. “I have worked in the hospitality industry for years and really found Spirit Halloween a fun place to work; we hope to bring that kind of experience to those that frequent and work here.”

When fully staffed, Urban Air hopes to have a staff of 80 and bills itself as a wonderful place for teenagers to get their first jobs. She says she wants to bring the same fun workplace as she had with Spirit Halloween while emphasizing the safety of the families visiting.

Torres said that Urban Air does a daily 200-point safety check conducted throughout the park before opening each day to ensure that guests have the safest experience possible.
