SILVER CITY, N.M. – Silver City will celebrate Territorial Charter Day on February 12, 2022 and Silver City MainStreet will participate in the celebration with the fifth annual Urban Challenge Fun Run in downtown Silver City. The run is approximately a 5K and both families and serious runners are encouraged to register with the goal of having fun in downtown Silver City.

The Fun Run has an entry fee of three cans of food to be donated to the Grant County Community and WNMU Food Pantries. “Runners are registering early and we already have a whole box of canned goods,” states Brenda Tozier, administrative assistant, Silver City MainStreet. "We encourage people to sign up early to be sure to get a race t-shirt.

“One of the unique features of this race is the entry fee of three cans of food. We are so glad that we were able to collect food and help our community. Many thanks to all the generous participants. Additional thanks go to the Town of Silver City for sponsoring the race and Copies on the Run, WNMU track team, and Skywest Media.

The mission of Silver City MainStreet is "To encourage a vibrant, historic downtown Silver City that is recognized as the heart of our diverse community."
