Urban Sweets opens in South End, dishing up ice cream and treats at Centro Square
Urban Sweets is now open at Centro Square in South End.
Owner Kristen Stewart founded Urban Sweets in 2021 as a mobile ice cream cart. The 700-square-foot space at 222 W. Bland St. marks the first brick-and-mortar location for the brand.

Stewart — also owner of stationary store Three Little Birds in South End — has more than 15 years of retail experience.
Her love of ice cream led her to create the Urban Sweets brand. It got its start hosting pop-up and catered events around Charlotte as its permanent space was under construction.
