Urbana Police investigating weekend shots-fired incident

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Urbana Police Department is investigating after officials said shots were fired near Crestview Park over the weekend.

The gunfire happened in the area of Cottage Grove and Colorado Avenues at 12:20 p.m. on Saturday. Officials said officers found 13 shell casings in the area, with damage to two homes and a vehicle, but no one was hurt.

Witnesses described a dark SUV speeding in the area immediately after the shots was heard. The motive for the gunfire is unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
