Uri Geller remembers Mystic Meg as 'quintessential fortune teller who defied sceptics'

Uri Geller has remembered Mystic Meg as "the quintessential fortune teller" who defied sceptics after she passed away aged 80.
The astrologer — whose real name was Margaret Lake — was admitted to hospital with the flu last month and died on Thursday, 9 March.
Paying tribute on Twitter, Geller shared an old photo of them together.

"Ah #MysticMeg has passed," he wrote.

Sharing a crystal ball emoji, Geller went on: "Much love and positive energy, Meg, on your onward journey."
Boxing legend Frank Bruno also paid tribute, writing on Twitter: "Morning I thought today is quiet news wise then I heard Mystic Meg has passed away so RIP Mystic Meg.
"We worked together a few times mainly on TV shows, she used to offer to tell me my future I was a bit weary (sic) of her to be honest. Away from the mystic part she was a charming lady."

Author Toni Tone said Mystic Meg had been a TV highlight when she was a child.
"My brother and I would wait with bated breath to hear her predictions about who would win the lottery next," she tweeted.
"We’d look back at our parents eagerly trying to determine if they matched the physical descriptions."
Fans also paid tribute, calling the astrologer "iconic".
Mystic Meg was known for her horoscopes in The Sun and also made many TV appearances.
The Sun quoted her agent Dave Shapland as saying: "Without any question, she was Britain's most famous astrologer by a million miles. Nobody came close to Meg in that respect. She was followed by millions in this country and also around the world.

"She even became part of the English language - if a politician, somebody from showbiz or ordinary people in the street are asked a tricky question they will say 'Who do you think I am, Mystic Meg?'
