Woman killed after shooting on US 35 in Riverside Sunday identified

A woman is dead after a shooting on U.S. 35 in Riverside Sunday, according to police.

Officers were called to Miami Valley Hospital in regards to a shooting victim that had arrived at the hospital around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Riverside police said in a media release Monday. They were informed that the incident happened on US 35 near Woodman Drive, when a maroon Chevrolet Impala was hit by gunfire.

Riverside Police Maj. Angela Jackson said a vehicle was traveling east on US 35 when it fired at least two shots at the Impala. Two other occupants of the car told police they believed it was a dark-colored vehicle.

The victim of the shooting, later identified as Shauna Cameron, 31, of Dayton, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in the the Impala, according to dispatch records. She later died from her injuries at the hospital, dispatch records show.

A 29-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were also in the car at the time of the shooting, but were not injured, according to Riverside Police.

The Woodman Drive Exit of US-35 Eastbound was closed until around 4 p.m. Sunday while investigating the shooting.

Jackson said they do not believe the shooting was an incident of road rage.

Detectives are currently investigating. They are asking anyone who was in the area of east or westbound US 35 around 2:30 p.m. and heard gunshots, or saw anything suspicious, to contact Riverside Police at 937-233-1801 or 937-233-2080.
