US border patrol agent assigned to El Paso station dies in the line of duty

A U.S. border patrol agent assigned to the El Paso station died in the line of duty this week.

A Border Patrol spokesman said the agency won't make any more information public until it has been cleared and vetted with the family. They are currently focusing on funeral arrangements.

El Paso Sector Border Patrol Chief Gloria Chavez identified the agent as Salvador Martinez in a social media post on Friday.

Chavez tweeted Friday afternoon: "The men and women of the #ElPaso Sector are saddened by the on duty death of Border Patrol Agent Salvador Martinez. BPA Martinez was assigned to the #ElPaso Station. Our thoughts & prayers are with his family, his friends & colleagues."
