U.S. clears COVID boosters that target variants

U.S. regulators have authorized its first update to COVID-19 vaccines. The booster doses directly target today's most common Omicron strain.

ANNALIESA ANDERSON: The bivalent BA.4/5 vaccine that's just been authorized differs from the original vaccine because not only does it contain the sequence for the antigen that makes the original vaccine that everyone has been taking, it also contains another component. It's still the same antigen, but it's been adapted to match that of the currently circulating BA.4/5 variant.
