A newly-elected US Congresswoman has introduced herself to the nation by saying Democrats will impeach ‘motherf*****’ Donald Trump.

Rashida Tlaib was speaking at an event in Michigan on Thursday afternoon when she made her statement about the president.

Relaying a conversation she had with her son, she said to cheers: ‘When your son looks at you and says, “Momma, look you won, bullies don’t win,” and I said, “Baby they don’t,” because we’re gonna go in and impeach the motherf—–.’

Tlaib was elected as Michigan’s representative from the 13th Congressional District.

Her comment was caught on video and been widely shared on social media.

It is not the first time Tlaib has called for Trump’s impeachment, including an article written in a Detroit newspaper, also on Thursday.

President Donald Trump is a direct and serious threat to our country,’ she wrote.

‘On an almost daily basis, he attacks our Constitution, our democracy, the rule of law and the people who are in this country.

Each passing day brings more pain for the people most directly hurt by this president, and these are days we simply cannot get back.

‘The time for impeachment proceedings is now,” the column concludes.’

Tlaib is seen as one of a group of progressive new lawmakers elected to Congress.

Along with Ihan Omar she is one of the first two Muslim-American congresswoman in history.

Congress was re-opened on Thursday amid a government shutdown in the US.

It was the first time in US history that a government shutdown has stretched from the end of one Congress to the beginning of the next.

Veteran Democrat Nancy Pelosi was elected Speaker.
