The US Energy Department now believes that a laboratory leak is the “most likely” origin of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The explosive claim was reportedly included in an intelligence report given to the White House and top members of Congress, which noted that the conclusion was made with “low confidence”.

Different parts of the US government remain divided on the controversial “lab leak” theory, with one agency agreeing with the Energy Department and five other bodies believing that Covid’s origins are natural.
