US finds no misuse of weapons provided to Ukraine — Secretary Austin

As the United States continues to monitor the weapons it provides to Ukraine, the U.S. Department of Defense has detected no signs of misuse of the equipment, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting on Jan. 23.
“The United States continues to work hard to monitor and account for U.S. security assistance delivered to Ukraine,” the secretary said.

“We have seen no credible evidence of the misuse or illicit diversion of American equipment provided to Ukraine. What we do see is Ukraine using the capabilities that we've provided to defend itself against Russian aggression.”
Austin also thanked allies and partners who have recently announced new long-term security packages for Ukraine, amounting to billions of dollars in support.

“We must continue to focus both on Ukraine's immediate battlefield needs, and on helping Ukraine to strengthen, modernize, and sustain its defense forces for the long haul.”
On Jan. 20, Ukrainian and U.S. officials conducted the first joint inspection of weapons and equipment provided by Washington.
In November 2023, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry implemented a program of end-use reporting for any piece of military equipment provided to Ukraine by international partners.
