The U.S. House of Representatives has elected Mike Johnson (R-LA) as its new speaker, CNN reported on Oct. 25.

●     Defense Ministry approves new UAVs for the military under expedited procedure
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has for the first time approved the procurement of several new models of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) under a simplified procedure that allows drones to be deployed to the frontlines within just a few days, the ministry said in a Telegram post on Oct. 25.

●     Russian Kinzhal missile manufacturers still not under EU sanctions — report
Subcontractors of Russian enterprises that produce Kinzhal hypersonic missiles have so far avoided European sanctions, allowing them to import necessary goods from various EU countries, Russian outlet The Insider reported on Oct. 25.

●     How Ukraine could use US-supplied ATACMS missiles
The provision of long-range ATACMS ballistic missiles has already proven to be one of the most significant "upgrades" in the class of weapons provided to Ukraine by its Western partners.

●     Ukrainian parliament to examine international experience of holding wartime elections
The Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, has appealed to other countries' parliaments to help Ukraine study the experience of holding elections during wartime, news agency Interfax-Ukraine reported on Oct. 24.

●     Russia reduces helicopter usage after ATACMS strikes — Danilov
Russian forces have decreased their use of attack helicopters on the battlefield following the Ukrainian ATACMS missile strikes on Russian airfields in occupied Luhansk and Berdyansk, Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) secretary, Oleksiy Danilov, told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Oct. 24.

●     Ankara clears way for Stockholm’s NATO bid, Budapest holds out
Turkey’s Grand National Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmus has signed Sweden’s NATO accession protocol and sent it for debate to the parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Turkish Hürriyet reported on Oct. 25.

●     Ukraine shell production significantly higher than last year, says Kamyshin
Ukraine is producing artillery shells at a rate significantly higher than the previous year, according to Strategic Industries Minister Oleksandr Kamyshin, who was speaking at the NATO-Industry Forum in Stockholm on Oct. 25.

●     Russian special services recruit Ukrainian teenagers to carry out anti-Semitic provocations
Russia is attempting to recruit Ukrainian teenagers, aged 13 to 17, to carry out anti-Semitic provocations, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) reported on Oct. 25.

●     Ukraine continues offensive south of Bakhmut, achieves success west of Verbove — General Staff
The Ukrainian Armed Forces maintain a strong defense in the Avdiivka sector, inflicting significant losses on the Russian occupiers still attempting to surround the city, the Ukrainian General Staff reported on Facebook on Oct. 25.
