'Us,' Lupita Nyong'o, Eddie Murphy named best of 2019 by African American Film Critics Association

"Us" is the best film of 2019, according to the African American Film Critics Association, which revealed its awards recipients Tuesday.

The AAFCA, the world’s largest group of black film critics, also put a spotlight on Lupita Nyong'o for her dual roles in Jordan Peele's latest horror film, awarding her the best actress prize. Eddie Murphy was honored as best actor for his work in Netflix's "Dolemite Is My Name," while Jamie Foxx walked away with best supporting actor for "Just Mercy" and Da’Vine Joy Randolph won best supporting actress for “Dolemite."

The South Korean film "Parasite," which has been sweeping up awards from critics' groups, nabbed best foreign film.
