US News & World Report ranks Cincinnati-area elementary, middle schools among Ohio's best

Several Greater Cincinnati elementary and middle schools recently ranked among the best in Ohio, according to U.S. News & World Report.

For the annual list, the outlet evaluated more than 79,000 public elementary and middle schools nationwide.

Mariemont Junior High School ranked as the No. 3 middle school in Ohio, right behind Fort Loramie Junior-Senior High School in Fort Loramie, Ohio, at No. 2 and Chestnut Ridge Elementary School in Berlin, Ohio, at No. 1. Indian Hill Middle School ranked No. 14.

Montgomery Elementary School ranked as the No. 6 elementary school in Ohio, right above Hilltop Elementary School, which took the No. 7 spot. Terrace Park Elementary School ranked No. 11, and Spencer Center for Gifted and Exceptional Students ranked No. 16. Miller City Elementary School in Miller City, Ohio, ranked as the No. 1 elementary school in the state.

In Kentucky, Gray Middle School in Union ranked No. 10, Conner Middle School in Hebron ranked No. 13 and Beechwood High School in Fort Mitchell ranked No. 19 for best middle schools in the state. Woodfill Elementary in Fort Thomas ranked No. 4 for best elementary schools, while Erpenbeck Elementary in Florence and White's Tower Elementary in Independence ranked No. 13 and 20, respectively.

To determine its findings, U.S. News & World Report looked at reading and math proficiency, achievement in core subjects, how well schools are educating their students and student-to-teacher ratios.
