US News and World report says NJ university is No. 1 in nation
U.S. News and World Report released its annual report for Best Colleges and a New Jersey university took first place: Princeton.
The method for choosing the best colleges relies on several factors: graduation rate, first-year retention rate and faculty salaries, among them.
According to the report, this year's study eliminated several main factors, such as: proportion of graduates who borrowed federal loans, high school class standing, alumni giving rate and class size.
And new factors related to faculty research and peer assessment rankings of medium to large undergraduate psychology and economics programs were added. The new assessment created a shift in the rankings for middle-of-the-pack colleges.
