US Open's April Fools' Day prank about dogs is pissing everyone off

There are some things you just don't joke about on April Fools' Day, and adding puppies to the US Open is apparently one of them.

On April 1, nearly two million people who follow the US Open's Twitter account were betrayed by a breaking news announcement that said the US Open planned to add puppies to the ballperson team in this year's tournament.

Naturally, everyone was delighted by the idea of pups chasing down tennis balls at the US Open, but once people realized the announcement was a joke for April Fools' Day, things got ugly.

Tennis fans and dog lovers alike began @-ing the heck out of the US Open account, questioning why they would joke about such a legitimately great idea.

Several dog owners got so excited they actually submitted photos and videos of their tennis ball-loving pups for consideration.
