This Is Us is set to begin filming season five very, very soon.

According to TV Line, production on season five of the NBC series will begin on September 24.

Unlike other many other shows, season four of This Is Us finished production before the coronavirus pandemic caused widespread production shutdowns, meaning the season was able to end as the writers had intended.

Last month, NBC confirmed that season five will return to screens in the US for a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, November 10.

We already know that the upcoming season will address the global pandemic "head on", with creator Dan Fogelman confirming the plotline on Twitter last month.

Randall Pearson actor Sterling K Brown has also discussed whether the season will reflect the recent Black Lives Matter protests.

"I can say this. I've had conversations with Dan [Fogelman, showrunner] and the writers from our show, and I know that the world is necessarily going to impact the world of the Pearsons, right?" he told TV Line.

"He doesn't want us to be too specific with regards to what we'll be seeing in season 5."

Brown went on to say that the writers were reserving "space" to potentially include world events in the upcoming season.

"They’re still — not knowing when we'll be going back [into production] — wanting to reserve this space to say, 'What else is there that's going to be transpiring in our world that we also may want to incorporate into our show?'" he added.

"So I know that everyone is paying attention, and that our intention is to reflect the world in which we live."

This is Us airs on NBC in the US, and on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
