Have you used Facebook in the last 16 years? You could be eligible to claim a payment

If you have used Facebook in the United States in the last 16 years, you could be eligible to submit a claim for payment from the social media giant, according to a recently launched class-action settlement site.

Americans who used Facebook between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, may be eligible for a cash payment from a $725 million settlement in connection with a lawsuit titled “Facebook, Inc. Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation,” the site stated.

The lawsuit alleged that Facebook shared the data of users without their consent.

The settlement was recently reached between Facebook, Inc., now known as Meta Platforms, Inc., and the plaintiffs in the lawsuit that had been pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

Facebook has denied violating any law but anyone who used the social media platform during the aforementioned date range is encouraged to submit a claim.

Facebook users can submit a claim form online or download the claim form and mail it to the Settlement Administrator. Users can also call the Settlement Administrator to receive a paper copy of the claim form.

Claims must be submitted by Aug. 25, 2023, in order to be eligible for payment.

A final approval hearing on the matter is slated for Sept. 7, 2023.
