USF softball coach Ken Eriksen now at 999 career victories

Following arguably his team’s most dazzling weekend of the season, USF softball coach Ken Eriksen stands on the cusp of a milestone — and millennial — triumph.
The Bulls’ 8-1 rout Sunday afternoon of No. 23 Wichita State (33-9-1, 15-4-1 American Athletic Conference) gave the 60-year-old USF alumnus his 999th career victory. Eriksen, whose team (24-12, 12-3) won three of four at WSU over the weekend, makes his first attempt at 1,000 Friday at noon when the Bulls open a four-game home series against East Carolina.
Admission is open only to those on USF’s pass list, but the game will be streamed live on ESPN+, with an online radio broadcast on @BullsUnlimited.
The coach of the U.S. Olympic team set to seek a gold medal in Tokyo later this year, Eriksen will enter Friday’s game with a career mark of 999-514-1 for a .659 winning percentage.
The Shockers’ three losses to the Bulls represented half their season loss total entering the series. On Sunday, Bulls senior right-hander Georgina Corrick (18-4) tossed a three-hitter for her third complete-game triumph of the weekend, and hit a three-run home run during a seven-run fifth inning.
