USS Clairton Coke Works plant experiences pause in production after power outage

The USS Clairton Coke Works plant experienced a pause in plant operations after a power outage.

Allegheny County officials say that the power went out around 5:30 a.m. and was restored at around 10:55 a.m.

Coke oven gasses had to be flared and the Allegheny County Health Department’s Air Quality Program has been monitoring the air.

So far, there have been no reports of any major changes in, or issues with the air quality.

Officials will be checking in with the plant throughout the day.
