Utah ‘hidden gem’ restaurant named by Yelp in Top 100 places to eat in 2024

AMERICAN FORK, Utah (ABC4) — If you’re in search of a new place to eat that provides “flavorful and fresh” dishes, you may be in luck with one American Fork place that was just listed among the Top 100 restaurants in 2024 by Yelp.

Little India, a “hidden gem” in an American Fork strip mall across the way from Costco, gives foodies an “insanely unexpected experience,” according to one reviewer.

The restaurant was listed at No. 19 on Yelp’s list of Top 100 restaurants across the United States for 2024. It also took the No. 12 spot on Yelp’s Top 100 Southwest restaurants in 2023.

According to Yelp, the beloved Indian restaurant is known for its authentic dishes such as the Chicken Tikka Masala – a creamy sauce that takes four hours to make – and butter chicken. Yelp reviewers say the masala and chicken pair well with the tandoori-baked naan, which one reviewer said “may change your life.

Other reviewers recommend the mango chicken or chicken coconut kurma.

“It’s pretty mind-blowing that American Fork has this good of an Indian joint,” wrote one Yelp reviewer. “It warmed my heart, I left impressed, it well exceeded my expectations and we’ll definitely be back.”

Yelp said Little India gives the complete experience with colorful walls, hand-painted murals and “fantastic” Indian music that plays in the background.

“Come in the door and we’ll take care of the rest,” Owner Manjit ‘MJ’ Singh told Yelp. Singh owns both the Heber City location with his brother Harjeet and their cousin Maninderpal. “We want our restaurant to be a second home for all of our customers.”

Yelp reviewers would say the three have done what they set out to do. One reviewer said the American Fork location is “always packed on Friday and Saturday nights,” creating a waiting list of up to an hour for a table for two. Google’s analytics for popular times backs up that claim, saying the restaurant gets “as busy as it gets” on Friday and Saturday nights around 6 p.m.

Thankfully, a new location is on the way as the three owners have plans to open up a Little India restaurant in Highland.
