Utah Jazz capitalize on Stanley craze to create limited edition cup

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — If you’re a fan of Stanley cups and the Utah Jazz then this news is sure to excite you.

The Utah Jazz announced on Wednesday a multi-year agreement with Stanley to bring Jazz-branded versions of the internet sensation drinkware to the Utah Jazz Team Store inside Delta Center.

The Stanley Quencher saw a dramatic surge in popularity earlier this year thanks to social media influencers breathing life into the product. The craze for the Quenchers have caused the cups fly off the shelves. Viral videos circulated the internet showing shoppers lining up at night eager to get their hands on a pink Quencher made in collaboration with Starbucks. Those videos included shoppers pouncing on displays to secure a cup.

“We are incredibly excited to announce this multi-year partnership with Stanley, a brand deeply rooted in innovation with a strong tie to the heart of Utah,” said Utah Jazz Chief Commercial Officer Chris Barney. “Teaming up with Stanley was an obvious choice. This partnership will create lasting impact and value for devoted Jazz fans and local communities as we introduce exclusive merchandise, engaging content and impactful sustainability initiatives through our collaboration.”

Much like the Starbucks collaboration, a limited number of Utah Jazz Quenchers will be released starting on Sunday, Feb. 4 during the Jazz game against the Milwaukee Bucks. The 40oz Utah Jazz Stanley Quencher will be available in Black or Frost colors and the 30oz IceFlow Tumbler will be available only in Polar.

Fans who buy their Utah Jazz Stanley cups can also get their cups personalized for free at the arena to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake, according to Jazz officials.

Miss out on a Utah Jazz Stanley cup after it gets released? The Jazz said it will be hosting “Stanley Giveaways” during seven of the Utah Jazz home games through the remainder of the season. During these giveaways, one lucky row of fans at Delta Center will win Stanley products.

Mayor Mendenhall says the city is committed to ‘level up’ as epicenter for culture

“An exciting part of our partnership with the Jazz is that two teams with very rich, storied legacies are coming together to delight – and hydrate – the best fans in the NBA,” said Stanley Senior Vice President of Global Commerce Matt Navarro. “Together, we’ll create memorable moments for Jazz and Stanley fans.”

In addition to physical cups being available for purchase, the partnership includes a $19.13 donation to the Wasatch Community Gardens for every steal that a Utah Jazz player achieves throughout the 2023-24 NBA season. The amount was chosen to honor Stanley’s founding year.
